Are you saying you don't want to do chronic or that you don't think that would be an option due to lack of experiance? 2 years of med-surg/icu/some dialysis experiance is plenty. I have worked chronic and acutes and like them both. Maybe shadow a chronic unit before ruling them out. But again, you've got plenty of experiance to get hired. Good luck!

Hello,
I am still a fairly new nurse having worked 2 years in medical/surgical ICU. I knew ICU wasn't for me but I needed a job. At the beginning of this year I was able to train and learn acute dialysis within my hospital. I only do it occasionally but enough that I can run a treatment and even done a couple off units on my own. Now looking to get out of ICU and into acute dialysis within my hospital system. Even with my limited experiences, I know about the main complaints people have with acutes. I still want the job. I think my ICU background has helped me but I'd really like to specialize. I was wondering what career options are there for someone that loves dialysis with only acute experience as I don't see myself ever going into chronic. I'm talking after I get some years of experience under my belt. I'm only 27 so time is on my side. Anything besides Management?
