Hey guys,
I'm doing a paper on cardiogenic shock and finding good sources fairly hard to find.
Here is a main paragraph I wrote after reading for a couple hours about it, anyone want to help me make sure I'm understanding this correctly or have any input??
" Myocardial ischemia is inadequate blood flow into the heart. If blood flow into the heart is compromised, then there is a great risk that in turn blood flow out of the heart will be inadequate, causing cardiogenic shock. Myocardial infarction, also known as a heart attack, is when some cardiac cells die from a disturbance in blood supply to the heart. This decrease in cardiac cells will weaken the contractions of the heart and cause blood flow out of the heart to be inadequate, causing cardiogenic shock. If or when cardiogenic shock will occur depends on the level of hypoperfusion, and if the cardiac output is reduced severely then cardiac shock will occur immediately."
Thx,

Cardiogenic shock: ineffective perfusion caused by inadequate contractility of the cardiac muscle. Causes include myocardial infarction, blunt cardiac injury, mitral valve insufficiency, dysrhythmias, cardiac failure. When the heart cannot pump an adequate amount of blood out into the circulation, organs do not receive the required amount of oxygen for tissue perfusion.
very clear and concise definition, thank you
