Im looking to go to Edison to get my AS and then work at CCH in L&D! I was wondering what you work to get full benefits?? If you work the day shift do you work weekends? Do they even have "PT" nurses in L&D? Can you get OT? How do holidays work? Any other info on CCH would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

Cape Coral Hospital is part of Lee Memorial Health systems so I would think benefits are the same throughout the system. You can get benefits for full time and part time, however, you pay more if you are part time. The benefits are on a scale the more you make the more you pay. You also pay more to add a spouse and family and if your spouse has "access" to insurance you pay $50 more a pay period and yes they do check on it and will cite fraud if you lie. They have dental, eye care, long term, short term, and life insurance that you can pay for in addition to health insurance. The rates have changed very little in the past few years but the actual benefits have declined.... used to get 100% cover after co pay of $100 and 100% ER with $75 co pay. Now it's co pay $250 and you pay 20% of tests (lab work may still be 100% covered not sure). They now offer car insurance, maybe this is to offset the health insurance costing more.
Full time is 32 hrs a week minimum and minimum part time is 32 hrs a pay period. Full time required to work 3 of the 5 major holidays... Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New years Eve, and New years. Part time is required to work 2 of the 5 holidays. However, if you work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (same for New Years)they only pay you for one day holiday pay...never understood this one. You must work every other week-end. You must also be on a hurricane team A or B... A has to be in the hospital during the storm and B comes in after. Team A will not be allowed to go home until management clears them to go. PTO is accumulated on a scale as well depending on how long you have worked there 5, 10, 15, 20 yrs. Each department decides when PTO can be used for instance my Dept does not allow any PTO through holidays or season. Pay scale is probably based more on need but as a rule if they can pay you next to nothing they will.
There are some other benfits as well, which you can look up online or even stop by and talk to a recruiter.

Ok I got it.. Where do you work? I want to do L&D.. does that still require hurricane teams?? My husband is police officer in Cape and he has to work if there is a hurricane too.. i have twin 17 month old daughters.. How the heck would I work around that?? They have a daycare there? Never really thought about the whole hurricane thing..
Thanks again for the helpful info!!
I work in the ER. They do have daycare but I don't know any specifics for it and not sure of daycare for hurricane. The hurricane thing is for every department. I guess if you could work the opposite of your husband if he has to be on duty during you could do B team and come in after the hurricane. They do allow you to bring family to hopsital (shelter) bring all your own supplies and medical necessities etc. Last hurricane (Wilma) EMS never did stop running even when the winds were highest so was business as usual for hospital employees. We would see a tree blow by and then a car driving down the road like a sunday afternoon. People never cease to amaze me.
Wow ER huh?! I think that would be too much for me but then again who knows!!
I didnt think theyd do daycare during a hurricane, but ya that could be an option just work opposite my husband.. we will see when the time comes!!
Thats crazy people were out during Wilma.. I was in Lakeland and I remember how bad they said it was down here.. People are stupid!! haha
