Hi I missed out on graduate program, its has been over a year and im so depressed looking for a job. Hospitals wont accept you unless you have completed a graduate year and it's also getting harder getting into aged care as PCA are replacing the nurses since they are cheaper here in australia. I don't know what to do? what's next? I am really losing hope..what other options do I have in gaining experience?? Should I just change careers?

Have you tried applying to a hospital on the causal nursing pool? Keep applying for positions you see, even if it says 1 year post grad experience, an area may be willing to support you, you never know your luck. Don't give up.

Hi MsDuprii,
You are not alone, I'm in the same boat. I have not given up hope. Apply into agencies, aged care or nursing homes, and applications for a lot of graduate programs for 2015 (general as well as aged care) are open at this time. You could think about relocating to a different city or regional as well. Keep trying, we will get there some day.

Hey. I too missed out on a New Grad programme after finishing in 2010.
Was pretty close to giving up after 6 months and then took a mate to a medical centre for a check up and turns out they were looking for a nurse - had a interview the next day and started work about 3 days later. Worked there for 6 months before getting a job in a hospital.
