Can't Decide

  1. Which school should I choose?

I am having a hard time deciding on a school to attend for the nursing program. I am also having trouble deciding which type of program to choose an ADN (ASN) or a BSN.

I want to attend to Roseman University and after speaking to an adviser over the phone and through email about my transcript, classes I need to take, et cetera, she said I can begin in either the February 2018 or the July 2018 cohort. I can choose to begin whichever cohort I want. However, the only downside is the cost of the program. The adviser told me the total cost of tuition would be $55k-$60k. It is a great program and its format is very suited to me. The program will take only 16 months (1 year, 4 months) and it is an accelerated bachelor of science in nursing. Roseman is a very prestigious university too.

The other school I have my eye on is Fortis College. They are a nationally accredited school according to the adviser(?) I spoke with via the telephone and email. The school has a great program too. They told me the program has no prerequisites that require completion prior to program entry. The "prerequisites" are inclusive, built into the program. It is a stress-free approach to becoming a nurse, at least, in my opinion. I don't need to worry about classes before entering and applying for the program. The adviser at Fortis spoke to me via the telephone as well and stated that they can start me earlier than Roseman and that their program is less competitive than Roseman's ABSN. However, I was not sure whether to believe that or not since every school is fighting for students to enter their school and not their competitor schools' programs. The only thing I find a downside is that for a nursing program that is 2 years long, it is only an ASN/ADN program. Roseman's program is a 16 month program and a bachelors of nursing science. The price is though more appealing than Roseman's program cost. The adviser told me the approximate cost of the program is ~$48k and about $10-12k cheaper than that of Roseman's. The adviser also told me the program will be lesser in cost since I have already taken some classes here at my current college and that the more of the built-in "prerequisites" I take here, the cheaper the program will be for me if/when I enter their ADN nursing program.

The time/length of the program and the cost are deciding factors into which school I choose. The reason for those factors are as follows:

I intend to become a professional athlete and need to finish the program at a reasonable age (I am 22 now but will be 23 this summer). I am looking to finish a program before or when I am 25 because I want a suitable income to fund my travel expenses for my professional career as an athlete until I make it huge. It is also a backup career in the event my professional career as an athlete does not go as I intend.

My motivation is the current financial struggles I am facing and my certified nursing assistant certificate is not giving me the pay I need in order to just make ends meet and fund my professional sports career.

I am open to suggestions, advice, ideas and just about anything that can assist me in deciding.
