Can a RN work or get a certificate in eyelashes with going to facial school?

I am a RN in FL. I have an MSN in nursing. I want to be able to do eyelashes and open a salon only doing eyelashes and possibly waxing. There is some rule: 477.0135 Exemptions.--Registered nurses under the laws of this state. But I do not know what they are exempting.

Does anyone know if I can apply for this license after taking a certificate class as a Registered Nurse?

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I read it to say that your license trumps the need for a cosmetology license, but what you do must be allowed by your license as that is who dictates what you can do.

Exemptions.—(1) This chapter does not apply to the following persons when practicing pursuant to their professional or occupational responsibilities and duties:

So, when you do it, you are practicing to your profession of nursing and are providing nursing services.

Good luck!! Sounds like fun!

Hi Stephanie,

To be on the safe side, check directly with your state's Board of Cosmetology to clarify if you are exempt.

State Boards vary and if you had a salon it would be inspected by Cosmetology board of your state.

Years ago , I had to get an Aesthetic license in order to train in Medical Aesthetics. My RN license did not cover

this role at that time. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I am looking to do something similar in Michigan. Looking into the process now. Please let me know what you find out.
