Can a nurse with an ADN become a nurse in NZ

First thank you for any responses. I have been doing my research and it looks like a nurse with an Associates Degree in Nursing can't become a nurse in NZ because you need 1100 hours of clinical in school. An ADN program only provides 800-900 hours of clinical. Do I need to go back to school to get my BSN or will the ADN suffice.

The NZ Council changed their requirements this year (I believe it was) and it isn't 1100 clinical hours, it is 1100 clinical hours in your final semester. Their education is set up with less theory than in the U.S. There have been some ADN's that have obtained registration and others that have not. If you apply, it will be assessed and it may or may not require you having a hearing with the Council to discuss your qualifications. Some applicants have become registered afterwards while others have not. Even if you do get your BSN, there aren't many U.S. nurses in New Zealand, comparatively speaking, so they do really question U.S. nurses qualifications and a BSN isn't a guarantee of nursing registration. Don't forget, you also have to have 2 years with 2500 clocked hours of work experience before you are eligible for registration in NZ. Good luck with whichever path you choose!
