Specializes in ICU Stepdown.

I don't know how it is in Virginia but in Ohio the usual requirements are:

1 year of related experience OR

Nursing assistant certification OR

Currently in a nursing program

And you definitely need CPR certification

Yes and No.

Right now? Maybe, but probably not in patient care.

After you take the first Fundamentals class in nursing school? Most likely yes.

I am in a 2 year ADN program and got a job as a PCT this summer in between my first and second year.

If I were you, I would go ahead and get my CNA now through the Red Cross or local trade school or whatever you want. Then get a job where you want to work when you graduate.

If you swing it all right, you can then even get that hospital to pay for you to go to nursing school.

I am in VA too and most of my classmates who were CNA's before nursing school are having their degrees covered by the hospital they work at.

I got my first gig without experience. I knew someone. Network network network
