I worked at a dr office he owns 5 clinics. Our team leader would not give us our lunch break. We worked from 8:30am to 6:00 pm sometimes longer. She would tell us to eat while we worked. In the last year I got maybe 3 lunches. But I was deducted 30 minutes every day for lunch. When I wquestioned this I was fired. Not for that reason but for a shot I didn't give. 2 other coworker told the higher up team leader they could have given the shot. The reason the shot played into this a pt complained she got a shot and the nurse didn't wear gloves or use a alcohol. Pt could not describdd the nurse. I know I took the call. I was asked by higer up if I ever gave a shot without wearing glovees. The answer would have to be yes. We have been without gloves papertowels and toiletpaper. But back to main question can they deduct you for lunch when u didn't get one. And what can I do about it now. I have been fired since aug 8

Not that I am giving legal advice (because we can't do that) but as a friendly suggestion you can always file a class action law suit, however, you are looking at retaliation against your license for giving shots and admitting it on a public forum without using basic safety.

Federal labor law says that you must be paid for all hours worked if you aren't a salaried employee. I have been in the same position as you, except that I couldn't take breaks because I was the only RN on duty and couldn't leave the unit. Legally, you have a good case if you can prove it, but is it really worth all the aggravation? When I was trying to decide what to do, I finally decided it was most important for me to get away from the negativity of my situation, and to chalk it up as a learning experience.
