Calling all independent nurses and aides in Ohio who use Rhino Bill

Better check the status of any up and coming pay checks. We are no longer permitted to bill via Rhino Bill. We now have to bill thru caresource.com. You will need a copy of your client's service plan to get set up on their site so you can bill. If you have any questions you can call the nice people at My Care Ohio @ 1 800 488-0134.

Not trying to spread bad rumors here, but my client's day aide called them and was told that in the future, when we bill, we are NOT guaranteed to be paid in a week. Our billing cycle can now take from seven days up to TWENTY DAYS for one week of billing to be approved! If this is true it is absolute ********. We are considered independent contractors. These are NOT the terms I agreed to when I sighed up for an IP number. I have been an IP aide for going on four years, first they cut our wages, and NOW THIS??!

I am barely making ends meet as is, and now for them to do this to us??!! I personally think they are trying to get rid of all the independents and force the consumers to go back to using agencies. I have suspected this since our accounts are no longer handled by Care Star.

If anyone else has any info or advice I'd love to hear it.

I just found this as well

Q: Will I still be able to use independent providers?

A: Yes. Independent providers will still be able to provide waiver nursing and personal care services. Your MyCare Ohio plan will contract with your independent provider for at least one year following your enrollment, unless a change is required.

What the heck does this mean??

And this, too.

Q: I am interested in directing my own care. Will I be able to do this through the MyCare Ohio plan I choose?

A: Yes. Your MyCare Ohio plan will offer you the opportunity to direct certain waiver

services.

• You will be able to recruit, hire, train, direct and terminate providers of personal care and/or Choices home care attendant services. Workers may include friends, neighbors and some relatives. You can also use agency-based providers to furnish hands-on care.

• You will also be able to negotiate rates for providers of certain services including Choices home care attendant services.

• You will be given information about directing your own care when you enroll in a MyCare Ohio plan. Information about self-direction will also be available in the Waiver Handbook given to you by your MyCare Ohio plan.

• You can request information about directing your own care from your MyCareOhio care manager at any time. Your team will talk to you about this option to see if it is right for you.

Doesn't look good for us IPs, esp the aides...

It's soo funny, not being given any sufficient advance notice neither about the billing company changes. I'm billing directly to my Consumer's new insurance co. as part of the mycareohio plan and there is NO monthly fee, but there is an up-to-30 day wait on my end compared to your up-to-20 days. That is after the week it takes to mail the hard copy, then the week or two it takes to declare my hard copy pages "clean", then it takes up to 30 days. What can you do besides complain or resign as an IP. : / Supposedly, even if you bill online versus hard copy in the mail, the processing length still will take up to 30 days. Are you paying a monthly fee to caresource.com like you (we) were with Rhino Bill, SJ?

Ok..... This is late, but to allohio independent providers......

all patients on both medicaid and Medicare, were "forced" on a program called My Care Ohio, where they are now assigned or "chose lol"

a managed care company. (Melina Aetna Buckeye United healthcare)

Some clients showed letters to their independent providers, and we were aware of the change! which there was supposed to be no change! Everything should continue as it did!!!! To insult to injury we can't just quit, we have to give 60 days notice or we get slapped with abandonment....

So now I'm going to try to share what I found out, and has been working for me, and so far have been getting excepted claims. You do not have to do snail mail your paper claims!!!!!! There will be a pay Delay!!! About 3 weeks after you sign up with a billing company called Dyserv (Write it down!). Here is the information!!!!! (614) 294-6078. I have been working with a lady named Angela, She is very sweet and understand the predicament we are in!!! She takes the time to explain what you need to do step-by-step! After you signed up with Dyserv and start getting your claims!!! You really need to become in network with the managed care company (aetna, Molina ect ect). You have 1 year to do this. But during the transition year they will pay you!!!

hope this helps.

Best wishes to you all!!

Billiam, I wish I was still with Rhino Bill. They no longer accept my client, who is Medicare and Medicaid, and RB apparently doesn't accept Medicaid patients. Or is it Medicare? My head is still spinning from all of this, as you said, with no heads up on how these changes were going to affect the IPs. :/

Which brings me to you, Tamera. :) I signed up with Dyserve, with less than stellar results, unfortunately. Tho the people I have dealt with have been super nice, as you said. But they messed up on something with my billing, and didn't bother to address the issue until I called weeks later wondering why my billing had been rejected by Caresource. So, I haven't been paid since the second week in May. I received one check directly from Caresource. I was told by a Caresource supervisor I would be paid my back pay by this week, well guess what? I still haven't been paid and today is Thursday. I will check my bank account tomorrow, and then probably start the calling process all over again. I have under eight hundred dollars in my bank account at this point. Rent hasn't been paid, bills are going into 40 days overdue, I am at my wit's end. I am so grateful I have an understanding Landlord. I have rented from him for so long he knows he will get his money, but jeeze, what if that wasn't the case??? The only bill I am current on is my car note.

I am so glad I love my client, otherwise I'd be asking if you want fries with that at this point.

Research all the I'd numbers you have!!!! Medicaid to icd9!!! Deserve can only bill if they have correct numbers!!! Call rhinobill they should have a record of all the numbers you used previously!! They have a customer service. Ask them to give you important things to pass on to Dyserv. Then check check and recheck!!! Hope that helps!!!

The problem has been fixed, and I FINALLY got paid today!

Thanks for your advice :)

I'm so glad to hear you got paid!!!!

hopfully independents will see this blog and finally get the answers they are looking for!!! Don't forget you have 1 year to become an in network independent provider for your clients chosen managed care company!!! Call and they will send you a packet to fill out and send in! Pretty painless!!

Do you mind running through what being 'in network' means, exactly? Your post is the first I have heard of this. I've been trying to learn as much as I can about this transition, but getting current info is difficult at times.

Hi Sweet Jane,

I am a representative of RhinoBill and we understand that there has been some confusion surrounding the services that we offer billing for vs the MyCare Ohio program.

The MyCare Ohio program is for patients that are dual eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. Providers who have patients that are on the MyCare Ohio will bill their patients managed care plan, ODM (Ohio Department of Medicaid) will no longer be the payer. We bill for Medicaid and not for Medicare.

At this time are not actively billing for the MyCare Ohio program and have never had the capabilities to do so. However, we are working with the five MCOs to add the service in the near future. Unfortunately, we do not have a date to share, but we will alert our members via email when the services are available.

We hope this provides some clarity and are happy to answer any further questions you may have.

Thank you,

The RhinoBill Team
