Calling all Canadian NCLEX takers!

Published

Hello everyone,

I just graduated from a BN program in Canada in the past few months and have been studying for NCLEX since beginning of October. This test is brand new to us and I've been reading online how the pass rates are lower than the US and the previous CRNE. I am writing my exam on November 14th (this coming Saturday) and my anxiety is getting the best of me! I was just wondering what some of your experiences have been and what you used to study/what grades were on the study materials.

My study materials:

Saunders comprehensive NCLEX review - Found this to be a good content review but heard the questions were too easy because they are recall based instead of analysis/application based. I skipped a lot of the questions for this reason and only completed about half.

NCLEX RN mastery app (android/iphone): I found these questions and mnemonics to be good! THe questions are challenging and the rationales are good, just watch out for some wrong answers highlighted. THe rationales seem to be on point. I am averaging 65% on this app

Kaplan Premier with 2 practice tests: THe questions are challenging, like the nclex mastery app, I have completed half of 1 test so far with an average of 69%. I find the rationales to be useful.

I also heard the Pearson vue trick doesn't work in canada. How long on average does it take to get the result?

Hi there. Just wrote my NCLEX in Canada today :)

I used Saunders and UWorld. I highly recommend UWorld for strategy and the rationales are great for content.

Also FYI, the PVT works in Canada

Oh wow, that's awesome about PVT. I only found out about uworld recently, it seems very good. I hope you passed your test !!!!!

Thank you, just waiting on results in the mail. I am in Ontario, and I've heard the CNO takes anywhere from 3-7 days to send results. The PVT gave me the good pop up, so I am cautiously optimistic. Good luck on your test!

oh Geez, that is long! Atleast not the 6-8 week of the previous CRNE. I have a friend who just wrote the NCLEX (few months ago) after studying for 3 days and passed in 75 questions...he got his results within a few hours! I wonder why its so different from province to province, I am in Manitoba by the way.

Well in ontario we have to wait for them in the mail :(

Can anyone suggest how long one needs to study as a Canadian graduate writing that NCLEX in Ontario. After being out of school for 4 years now

I am looking for a study group too
