Questions about Mission Hospital and Saddleback

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi, I'm considering applying at either Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo or Saddleback in Laguna or San Clemente.

1. Which is better in terms of their ICUs?

2. Anyone have a preference to where they'd rather work in terms of environment, pay, etc?

3. What is the deal w/ Mission Hospital's Registry? The website seems vague.

4. I saw that Saddleback has a sign on bonus for experienced nurses and relocation. Anyone have an experience w/ that?

5. Does Saddleback have an ICU at their San Clemente location?

I'm thinking of living in San Clemente so it seems like Mission would be the way to go in terms of proximity but I'm willing to drive if Saddleback is a better facility.

Thanks in advance for any advice:heartbeat

I am in nursing school here in South OC and not working, but I figure my advise is better than none! Saddleback Laguna Hills may not be that much farther for you than Mission...Mapquest it. Saddleback LH has a general ICU and an older patient population. It is in the middle of a huge retirement community. I have found the staff there to be generally warm and supportive.

Mission has more than 1 ICU. It is a much larger hospital. I have heard varying reports on the job satisfaction of the nurses there. It likely depends on the department.

I don't know if San Clemente has an ICU, but I think it does. That hospital has seen hard times, but it undergoing a bit of an overhaul with new ownership. Most residents in SC drive pst that hospital on their way to Mission. That said, if you live in San Clemente, you still might be very happy working at that local hospital.

Hoag is an excellent hospital too, but a commute from San Clemente.

I hope this helps!
