Moving back to CA

U.S.A. California

Hello All!

I am considering moving back to Southern CA, from AZ. I would like to get my RN, and just wanted to know the best route to get there. I have a few pre-reqs that I know can transfer from a CC, that I did when I lived in CA a couple years ago. I have been considering Meric College...any thoughts on this school? Any advice would be so greatly appreciated, as I want to make sure I am making the right choice moving back to CA.

Thanks for all your help! :)

Hello,

I went to Maric for my ADN 5 years ago. It is very expensive, but I felt well prepared for my boards and had no trouble passing them. After I graduated, I honestly felt a little embarresed when people in the area would ask where I went to school because I don't think Maric has the best reputation. But I have found the longer I have been a RN, the less it matters where I went to school and more on my personal/work ethic. If you can take your pre-reqs elsewhere, it will save you a ton of money. Good Luck!

A colleague of mine actually moved from So Cal to Arizona specifically to get into nursing school faster. I don't know what it's like it AZ, and it may vary from city to city, but here each nursing program has its own set of pre-reqs and most have big wait lists or lotteries, so it can take a long time for a so-called "two-year degree." My understanding is that Maric isn't as impacted because they have very high fees, as in tens of thousands of dollars. It's worth it to some because it can be faster than going the community college route. There's at least one recent long thread on Maric college somewhere on these boards.
