California licensing

Published

I need some information on the California walk through process. I received all the necessary paperwork by mail and had all of the documentation from my school and original/current states of licensure taken care of. When I get to Sacramento is it really only going to take two days to process and if so are there better or worse days to get there? Also for the fingerprinting process I heard that you can get that done right down the street from the licensing board, is that true? Thanks in advance.

You can do everything in Sacramento in one day. If the state in which you obtained your original license uses Nursys (it's the online license verification, you can go online to the web site, pay them a small fee before you go to Sacramento so that they have verification by the time that you get there. They will ask you to have you finger prints done. This is walking distance form the licensing place.

When I was there people arrived at the office with there luggage and left it there to go get there finger prints done. The process is different for temporary license and permanent. Temporary is cheaper and faster and I think it last three months and you don't need a transcript from you school. You can renew it after 3 month but I think you can't renew after that. So if you get a temporary, make sure they get and approved your transcript before you second temp license expires. Good Luck.
