California License Endorsement - temporary license?

Published

Hi all! The new grad nurse residency program I'm interviewing for begins in March, but it requires an active CA license by mid Feb. I currently have a NJ license that I would have to have endorsed. I've read that traveling to CA in person to have the live scan done for fingerprints can make the process go a bit faster for out-of-staters. Even if I do this in early Jan and submit my endorsement application by the end of December, I'm unsure if I'll be able to have my license by mid Feb (hypothetically speaking).

Does anyone have any tips for me? I've heard mixed things about CA's temporary license, but the timeline on the BON's website looks pretty solid (processing in 2-3 weeks - https://www.RN.ca.gov/times.shtml), so I'm a bit confused. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Just curious if you went ahead with the process and how it went for you? I’m in the process now and have completed everything except fingerprints, which I am flying out to do in 2 weeks.

Are they still waiving deficiencies?
