Cal State Stanislaus

Published

Hi,

I am looking at ASBSN and BSN programs in California. Has anyone been through the ASBSN Stanislaus program? If so, how is it? Do they provide good hands on and classroom training? How does it compare to other schools such as SFSU, or Sac State? Is it easier to get into than the others? Also, I am considering commuting from Berkeley if I were to get in. Is this feasible or would it be best to relocate to Stockton? What is the cost of living down there?

Thanks!

I am not sure if the program is better or not but the cost of living is wayyyyyy cheaper in Stockton. My sister got a house there super nice less 1bed 1 bath tiny condo in LA burbs

It's an intense 1.5 year program. You will have clinicals that are two days in a row, so I don't know if you can handle the commute. Living in stockton is cheap, but do your research on the area. I believe that the experiences we've had have prepared us as much as it could. Not sure how it would compare to other schools, but I can say that I think almost 100% of the first cohort have landed jobs. :) there were 17/20 of us that made it through the program. 2nd cohort has 30 and I believe the 3rd cohort has the same number.

Thanks for the feedback!

Also, since I don't drive, are there reasonable living accommodations within walking or bike riding distance of the school of nursing and the clinics where the rotations are done?

Did everyone on the cohort get good paying jobs or did they get into nurse residency programs? BTW, what do you think of nurse residency programs?

Thanks!

The area immediately surrounding the school and hospital (they're like a block away from one another) isn't a good place to live in. You will be traveling to madera for the peds rotation and staying for the weekend. Some of us have gotten into nurse residency programs while others have actual positions.
