Cal State San Marcos Accelerated BSN Fall 2012

Published

Hey guys!

Has anyone applied for the Fall 2012 ABSN program at CSUSM? I have and according to my evaluation, I still need to take 2 more classes (Physiology and Lifespan Development) before the term starts. However, not sure if I'm guaranteed acceptance or not. For those who have gotten news, has the school given your acceptance/rejection yet?

Hi! I applied this past January right before I started my last semester of pre-reqs. I sent in my official transcript about 2 weeks ago (which completed my file) and got an email about a week later saying I had been accepted for fall. Physiology is one of the pre-nursing core classes that has to be completed before the advisors will rank you. When are you planning on starting the program?

wow congrats on your acceptance! I'm hoping to start the program this fall but seeing as I'll be finishing physiology sometime in August, I'll probably end up being rolled over to the spring term. I called one of the admissions representatives at CSUSM and they said that if I end up finishing the class after the fall term start date, I will have to be rolled over to spring term :( so currently I'm trying to find a school that has an earlier end date for summer school so I can send my last transcript before the program begins.

by the way, do you think the cohort is already full for this fall?

When in August is your class supposed to be over? I'm not sure if the cohort is filled yet, but the week before I got my acceptance email (like two weeks ago), I emailed advising and asked if the cohort was full. When they replied back, they said the fall cohort was very close to being full and my application would more than likely be rolled to be considered for spring. Then less than a week later, they offered me admission for fall. After they send you an email offering you admission, they give you a week to pay your intent to enroll deposit. I'm guessing that not everyone who gets an offer actually ends up enrolling in the program, which opens up more spots.

I have a friend who was admitted to the cohort that started Fall of 2011. She got her initial evaluation in the middle of June, but then had to petition a course which took her about 3 weeks. She had given up on being accepted for the Fall cohort, but a week before classes started they offered her a spot...she did have like a 47 on the point scale though. But there's always hope! I think the cost of the program deters many people, so I would just keep in touch with advising throughout the summer to see if they still have spots open! :)

Well I'm considering two schools to attend for summer school and the one I'm enrolled in right now ends August 30. But if I get into the other school, that class ends August 10 which would give me a better chance to send the rest of my documents to CSUSM at an earlier time. I just hope that there will still be seats open for the fall but if not, I guess I'm ok with waiting til spring term. That's awesome that your friend got in though! I'm hoping, if anything, that'll happen with me too haha. All I'm praying for is that I'll be able to finish the physiology class early and send in my transcripts before the end of August!

Yeah, I would've been okay waiting for spring too. Since I live in Rancho Penasquitos I figured if I got in for spring there would be a chance that I would get the San Marcos campus which is sooo much closer than Temecula. I would definitely go for the class that ends August 10th since fall semester at Cal State starts on August 27th. Have you asked advising if you could get your physiology professor to email your final grade so you don't have to wait for the official transcript to get processed? I know some people who were able to do that for the last spring cohort, but I'm not sure if that's something they do on a regular basis. It's worth a try!
