Hi All:
Has anyone attended Cabarrus College of Health Sciences? If so, which program were you a student in and how did you like it. I have applied to the ASN program there and will find out in Nov. if I'm accepted.

Hi Stephanie,
I am a second semester ADN student at CCHS. Yes, I do like the school. It's very small and if you like that type of atmosphere then, you will do great here. Are you interested in the nursing program? Or do you still need pre-req's? I am assuming you do which is why you are appying to the ASN program. Let me know!
Hi:
I've completed prereq's, now I'm just waiting till Nov. to find out if I am accepted? This will be a second degree for me, so I hope that I'm accepted. What made you decide to go to CCHS? I like the idea of a small atmosphere, it makes for better learning, at least I think.
Well I had heard great things about the program so I decided to apply. They also don't just look at GPA they look at your references, essay and ACT scores that was attractive to me. They have great instructors. I originally wanted to go to CPCC but I got into CCHS first. I also go into CPCC, but turned it down. CCHS is more expensive, and I don't think I would come here if I wasn't in a program simply because of the costs. A lot of girls in my class were waitlisted and still got in. So if that happens to you don't feel bad! Plan as if you are still coming. They have a great financial aid too. If you haven't done that I would suggest you do that now. Did they make you take the ACT?
I am glad I chose the school, although I wish it was more diverse, I am a minority student and there are very FEW people who look like me. There are a lot of females, very few males. So it lacks diversity but overall it's a great program. It's a tough program as well. If you have free time, go to Barnes and Noble, or Borders and just browse NCLEX books looking at the style of questions. Even if you can't answer them, reading the rationales will help teach you how to "think" about the questions. Just some helpful advice. Good luck to you. Feel free to ask more questions if you need to.
Thanks for this info, I'm glad to get it. When I was looking for nursing programs, CCHS always caught my eye. I could have gone to the program here in Charlotte through CMC, but I wanted a change in pace. After I graduated from UNCG, I was ready to come back and now that I've been back, I'm ready to go somewhere else. I love how successful students are on the first try of the NCLEX, so that gives me quite a good feeling.
That's interesting and great that folks are waitlisted but still get it. I would be more than happy to be offered a space. I too am a minority and I would love to see more in healthcare and obtaining their education, and unfortunately a lack in diversity is everywhere. We just have to hope that one day there will be become a balance.
