CA SB 775 Improve Lead Screening/Treatment Legislation

Published

hi everyone,

i'm a nursing student in a bsn program. i simply wanted to create some awareness about this a bill and increase support for what the bill entails. senate bill 775 establishes a program that will increase screenings of california children for risk of lead poisoning through the use of an immunization program; improve reporting of information to laboratories to better track cases of lead poisoning; and make available informational materials about lead to pregnant women. this bill will increase the screening of california children under age six for risk of lead poisoning and ensure that children at risk will receive a blood lead test and appropriate intervention as necessary. to put it simply, one part of the bill that is appealing is the order for lead screening results to be recorded on the yellow immunization card. it’s an easy way to strengthen current legislation on lead poisoning and screening. this legislation is very close to being passed, however, the extra support would be a benefit and well taken. i urge you support sb 775 to ensure that california’s children are screened for lead poisoning before it is too late. all it takes is a simple letter written to your local legislator(s) in california. thank you.
