CA CC nursing students advice

Published

Hi everyone. I have about 8 CCs near me I'll be applying to in socal area. I did well in classes and should have the following stats before applying to my schools. I want to know if I should make some adjustments to get more points if I don't get in this round Based on other current students stats.

My stats:

- 4.0 science GPA/ 4.0 overall
- 200 hrs volunteer
- CNA cert no experience
- low family income
- 3 years high school 2nd language

- I also took extra classes like nursing success, death and dying, math for nursing students, statistics, and critical thinking

Most points systems with what I have im in the 70-80/100

Schools I'm applying to:

  • Rio Hondo
  • Cerritos
  • Cypress
  • Mt. Sac
  • Chaffey
  • Santa Ana
  • Golden West
  • Saddleback

*Haven't taken TEAS yet scheduled in a few weeks.

Any advice would be helpful! In the meantime I've signed up for pathophysiology, pharmacology, and intro to psychology. I can also start working so I've been looking for CNA jobs in case I need to apply next Spring. Some schools only accept hours over 1000 (GW and a few others take 500 hrs for points I believe)

Thank you again
