I am relocating to Champaign and currently have applied at both Carle and Provena. They have been slow at getting back to me post-HR interview, and I need to line up a few more options should my first-choice hospital positions not pan out. Has anyone had experience at Pavilion Behavioral? I have a pediatric background, so I am nervous applying for random med-surg or home health jobs. At this point though, I am willing to consider anything.
If anyone has personal experience with any employers out that way for RN positions, I would love to hear about it!

I had clinicals at the Pavillion and loved it. But, it is hard. Not only do they have an adult, inpatient floor, but they also have a floor for minors, divided 5-12 and 12-18 years of age. I have a friend that went to work there after we graduated, and she seems very happy. It's hard to see the kids going through such heavy stuff, but it's very gratifying work. They also have permanent residential programs for minors and adults...
I work in a critical access hospital north of CU. It's a 25 bed hospital (20 M/S, 2 ICU, 3 OB) with 8 ED rooms. We see everything on our M&S floor, from peds to ortho surgeries. There are also several smaller hospitals around CU (John Warner in Clinton, Kirby in Monticello, Gibson Area in Gibson City, IMH in Watseka-though, a bit far from CU). And, you may want to check out the Bloomington-Normal hospitals. It's about a 30-45 minute drive from Champaign via Interstate 74 and goes quick.
Good luck!

I don't want to say too much, (as Carle has really been cracking down on what its staff are saying about it in the online world) but they were slow about call backs when I was hired. In addition, the new "class" if you will, of new grad RNs just started orientation yesterday and I imagine HR has been a busy busy place for the last couple weeks.
Unfortunately, I have no experience with the Pavilion or surrounding hospitals. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for the input. Carle didn't pan out, but I am waiting to hear from Decatur Memorial and Provena in regards to a few spots I applied for. I also have an interview later this week for a clinic, but I am worried that the salary will not be enough to support me with the loans I am bringing with. Looked into some peds home health options as well, waiting to hear from them.
Thanks for the list of the smaller community hospitals, those will help a lot! It's difficult not being familiar with the area. I appreciate the help. :)

You could apply at Alpha Care they are a home care/nursing home fill in company that has plenty of pediatric clients. They are also high paying with good benefits and good to work for.
