I have a good friend who has a daughter who is 11. I was at her house the other day and noticed on the kitchen table a pill bottle prescribed to her daughter for buspar. I babysit this girl sometimes, she is a similar age as my children. I think this medication is new because last time she came over I noticed the girl was extremely flat and listless.
Other than the fact that the girl has always annoyed me somewhat, due to the fact that she thinks she's the center of the universe, I can't imagine for the life of me why she's on this med. She's an only child who was adopted at 8 months old by her single mother who is a social worker who works for mental health. She is the pride and joy of my friend.
I'm concerned about this, especially since I do back up childcare for my friend. She's never mentioned this to me. Is buspar commonly used for children? It seemed to have knocked the life out of the girl, she was very subdued last time I watched her, my children noticed it too.
