Yes this is! I hadn’t seen a thread open for this fall so I decided to make one! I was going to apply for the evening but went with the daytime instead. How are you feeling about your application and maybe starting this fall?
I didn't see a thread either, thanks for starting one!
I almost didn't apply to BSHP because two of my scheduled TEAS exams got cancelled during covid closures. Then I saw that they pushed the deadline from June 1 to July 1 and decided to keep trying. I took my TEAS this morning and my total score was 90.7%. I got all A's except an 83 on the science. As soon as I got home I did my application and ordered my transcripts.
I'm not sure how I feel about my application because I don't know what competitive TEAS scores and GPAs are for this school. I got a B in Microbiology, B in A&P 1, and A in A&P 2. Guess I will just wait and see. I think they have more spots available for daytime students.
I also submitted an application for San Antonio College for Spring 2021.
Yeah no problem!
Oh man that’s an awesome score! I’m happy you were finally able to take the exam since I know COvID is making it harder for everyone right now. Your stats look really good!
I got a 78% on my TEAS, English being my worst subject. I got an A in Microbio, an A in A&P I and and A in A&P II. So the only thing that might bring me down is the TEAS. I think they said July 15th they would let us know through email?
I was looking at SAC as well but I heard that you don’t have as much guidance and their NCLEX pass rate isn’t high but it’s what you put in that counts.
That's a quick turn around time with admissions decisions! SAC takes a while.
I hear'ya on the NCLEX pass rates. That's my biggest concern with SAC. I was just looking at the NCLEX pass rates on the TX BON website and SAC is consistently lower than BSHP.
Considering cost, BSHP is much more expensive than SAC for an associate's degree.
From what I've heard, the clinical placements with BSHP are good because they are part of the Baptist Health System.
Hmm... A LOT to consider if we are offered admission. Are you applying anywhere else?
It is especially since it starts in August, only 1 month to prepare!
Definitely, when comparing tuition for BSHP and SAC, BSHP is more expensive but everyone I’ve talked to have only good things to say about the program. I used to work at a Baptist hospital and they hire many students right after graduating and they do have great clinicals, 1st choice.
If I don’t get in, I’m planning on applying to UTHSCSA for Spring 2021.
Yep, I've heard positive things about BSHP too. UTHSCSA is a great backup plan! I went to one of their info sessions and checked their admissions requirements - I’m short one Chemistry course.
Just curious, have you emailed the admissions advisor at BSHP to confirm if they received your application and supporting materials? Their auto-response email after submitting the online application says to email them. How soon after submitting your application did you reach out by email?
My CPR certification expired recently. Do you have any suggestions on where to take it? I want to try and get that taken care of soon.

Yes I emailed her to make sure I had everything I needed and she replied that my application was complete! I waited about 2 weeks to ask her but I’d say you should email her soon before the July 1st deadline.
As far as the CPR goes, I used to get it with American Red Cross and would sign up for one of their classes so you can try them!

Hey everyone!
I just applied to the Fall 2020 ADN program at BSHP and was wondering if anyone else is planning to apply or has applied. I haven't seen a topic for the fall semester and wanted to open one up.
Thanks!
