I am attending Broward College in Davie,FL. I am so confused I what classes to take before actual nursing program. Everytime I turn around students are telling about new classes to take. The advisors are no help. I have been in on campus one year so far.

To give you a picture I never went to college before so this is my first time.

I have taken Math till algebra which is mat0024.

I have taken English till Enc1101.

Ethics,A&PI with lab.

This semester I finish A&PII with lab.

Summer I take Chemistry and Sociology.

Is there anything else to consider to lessen the load before the nursing program.

Thanks for listening.

Here is a link to the prerequisites. In addition, you need to take microbiology although it is not a prerequisite in order to apply meaning you can apply before aking it althought most take micro prior to applying to lesson their course load while in the program since it is required for graduation from the program

What Nlion said. The page she gave you gives you good details. You're almost there. I don't know which campus you go to but go see another campus's advisor may that will help. Central is nice...Mine was quite helpful in giving me a good plan.

I go to Central campus and the advisor I got wasn't much help. I want to have as less load as possible for when I get into the program.

Then definetly get micro date before so you know you're all set. I hope it's not the rules but I want to make a suggestion. Try to see **** ***pl. She's beyond great with me and real helpful. Takes her time, etc.Just make a list of questions and she'll go one by one with you. From what she explained you will need MAT0024, ENC1101, a humanites credit, a behavioral credit , CHM1032, BSC 1085, BSC 1085L, BSC 1086, BSC 1086L, MICRO and HCP001 last so it doesn't expire.

Once accepted you'll also need HSC0591 – HIV/AIDS HSC0522 -TB/OSHA/Hep HSC0405 - CPR

HSC0691 - Domestic Violence CAE0528 - Prevention of

Medical Errors.

The easiest way to figure out what you need, etc is to check your degree audit online since it will list things a bit more clearly and you can "check off" what you've taken there.

Thank you very much for all your suggestions. I will look into meeting with that advisor. I only have Chm1032 and Sociology. I guess I can do Micro in Fall. I did everything else you mentioned.

:up:Glad you're almost there. I've got a while to go but she helped me out. She herself even said I'm sure you have questions about entry into HS..most students have to read it about 10 times to get a good concept. She's right. They made it a bit difficult to decipher step 1 thru step ...etc but I guess that's prep for nursing...lol

I don't know if you know about ratemyproffessors.com but it's real helpful to pick someone who's not going to give you a hard time or who doesn't explain things properly. I took Sociology a while back at North w/ * ****and he was awesome. Easy A. :p Definitely will help to take him for Sociology if you can since Micro is not easy.
