Sorry to create another thread about this, but after relentless searching I wasn't able to find the answer to my inquiries, and so here they are!
1. Does Broward College require Human Growth & Development as either a Pre-req or a Co-req?
2. Does North Campus accept May RN applicants?
3. After 1 year of course work in BC's RN program, is it possible to take the LPN certification exam?
4. Is there a required Information Session one must attend prior to applying to Broward College?
Thank you for taking the time to consider these questions :).

sorry to create another thread about this, but after relentless searching i wasn't able to find the answer to my inquiries, and so here they are!1. does broward college require human growth & development as either a pre-req or a co-req? no, but you need a behavioral or social science, not as a pre-req but to graduate, so you could use this class to satisfy that2. does north campus accept may rn applicants? they have the last two years. the year before it was north and central and this past may it was just north.3. after 1 year of course work in bc's rn program, is it possible to take the lpn certification exam? i'm pretty sure the answer is no. however, i believe you can work as a pca (same as cna) after you finish the first semester.4. is there a required information session one must attend prior to applying to broward college? no, not required, but they have them every so often if you want to attend. the only thing mandatory is after you're accepted.thank you for taking the time to consider these questions :).

Yes, you have to complete Micro before you graduate. I did mine last summer right before I started the program in the fall. You will have 6 weeks off during the summer, and you can certainly do it then, but if you're like me, I want as much time off as I can get.
Basically, in addition to the pre-reqs and nursing courses, you need Micro, Behavioral/Social Science and a Humanities/Fine Arts (with writing credit). The writing credit doesn't necessarily have to come from your humanities/fine arts class. I took Anthropology, which is considered a social science and it a writing class, and I got my writing credit that way. (You can get program information here: http://www.broward.edu/images/ProgramSheets/21271.pdf). Also, I should say that this is just for an Associate of Science degree. There will be other classes you need if you decide to get a Bachelor's, or even an AA degree for that matter, and those classes can vary depending on the school and the type of Bachelor program you are going in.
Also, I meant to say something else about Hum Growth and Dev. A lot of Bachelor's programs require that class, so you might want to look into schools that you are considering going to if you choose to continue on towards your BSN degree to see what they require. Broward College will be offering an RN-BSN degree starting in January 2011, but I have no idea what classes you will need. And I guess I shouldn't say you can for sure use it as your behavioral science requirement, because I don't know that 100%, but I was assuming since it is a psychology class, that it would count. If you're interested in using that class for the requirement, I would just double check with an advisor to make sure. I used General Psych for my behavioral science.
And yes, I am getting closer and closer to being done (over halfway now!). Time has really flown by. I remember when I was just starting A&P1 and I thought I would never see the day I would start the nursing program. It just seemed like an eternity away, yet here I am, 2 semesters left to go. :)
Good luck again, and don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

Thanks so much for all of this beneficial information. I was at first preparing to enter PBSC's nursing program, but since I missed the NLN exam deadline I would have to wait 6 more months from september before I can register for it again, so I looked into my other options and found BC's program appealing. I've already taken both Psychology, Sociology, and a lot of english courses that require writing, so I think I've fulfilled all of BC's requirements save for Anatomy & Physiology II w/lab, which I will be taking in fall along with Microbiology, but I'll contact them to double check. In spring I'll probably take Human Growth & Development and Microbiology lab, just to save me some trouble in the future, but I'm going to be aiming for BC's May program. I guess I'm at where you were 3 semesters ago, lol. It seems like all of this is going to take an eternity, but as long as the wheels are in motion I know the time will roll by!
