I am a seasoned R.N. working in a hospital in ambulatory surgery. We do bronchoscopies under fluoro all the time. Just recently had a dispute with an M.D. when she became miffed when I would not pass biopsy forcep for her. As far as I am aware that is Her job. My job is to assist taking the actual"BITE" and handle specimens including slides and brushes ect.,Also I could not see fluoro screen only endo screen which was obscured by bubbles and blood. When I asked her to take the forcep she was angry. I feel I was advocating for my pt. by not continuing to pass forcep when resistance was met coupled by lack of visual field. I checked policy and procedure manual ,but it is not written anywhere that The R. N. is not supposed to advance the forcep, which could potentially perforate the lung resulting in a pneumothorax and an emergency situation. If anyone has encountered this situation and/or knows anything give a kind response. Thnks
