Offered a medsurg job via telephone today. Wondering if anyone has any recent experiences or comments. I am graduating in May. Should it scare me that the manager is willing to offer me the job sight (not to mention experience) unseen? What should I request as far as a formal job offer? Manager seemed earnest in saying that students and young nurses request this unit and thrive on it, and said that I should call back after giving the decision some time and thought.

What I am most concerned with, this being my first RN job, is having a supportive team and learning the practical side of how to be a RN. If you work there or have any insights feel free to send me a PM.

Also, I must ask if anyone knows the going rate for new grads and any possibilities of a signing bonus.
