Brandman University (UMASS) ABSN

Published

Is anyone trying to apply to Brandman University (UMass in San Diego) for their ABSN program? I saw a post here that says if we completed all the prerequisites it is only 4 semesters, but the enrollment coach told me it is still 2 years and 6 semesters. does anyone know anything about this program?

Hi! What cohort did you apply to for the ABSN program at UMass? I applied for Summer 2022.

Which cohort did you apply to? I applied for Summer 2022 and got an email today saying they postponed the Summer 2022 cohort to Fall 2022 (eye roll). Like c'mon UMass Global.

One of the current students that I was in contact with said that if you have all the general education classes plus the sciences, it cuts down 8 months for the program so it ends up being around 18-22 months.

I end up didn't apply to this school because the admission person told me if I apply for the Summer or fall cohort, If admitted, I will be starting the program next year..... Like what??? the program takes 2 years with most of the prerequisites completed, and I have to wait a year to start, that just doesn't make any sense to me.

We were just told that they cancelled the Summer 2022 cohort and all applicants are having their applications moved to Fall 2022. Most nursing programs are like that where you apply a year in advance but technically for this school if we applied by February 15th 2022, we should have been slated to start in Summer 2022. I'm applying to other junior colleges as a backup plan.

hmmm, interesting. This school is actually the only school I know that does this(start a year later). I applied to other schools for the ABSN programs and they're all starting the cohort that I apply to.

Which other schools did you apply to? I’m applying to Southwestern and they’re application is due July 2022 but the program doesn’t start until January 2023 so that seems to be the norm for a lot of the junior colleges. Regular prelicensure programs are different than ABSN programs as they require you to apply a year in advance from when the cohort would start. I’m keeping my fingers crossed to UMass because I rather just get it all done rather than having to go through a step up program and still have to do a RN-BSN program.

Oh I see. I only applied to ABSN programs. I applied to CSUN, CUI in california, and some other ones in Arizona and other states
