Brand New RN, First Day of Psych Nursing Tomorrow :) (advice)

Published

I do know a lot of people will say I should've done a Med Surg floor first in order to solidify my skills. Well I became an RN in June and started applying in Aug. (I took a small break after school and NCLEX to travel). I was offered employment both areas I applied to (one was a med surg RN training program 3 year contract, the other was a psychiatric position 2 year contract)...i decided to take psych because I did my intern work there, was a tech there, and became a nurse to do psych...I am also obtaining my bachelors and masters and hope to continue to move up in psych....

Now I am just wondering if any of you nurses (psych or not) have any suggestions or tips for my first day...I am humbled to be working around you experienced nurses and am thrilled to be working with the patients I have such a passion for.

Thanks for any suggestions...
