Good Morning Fellow Nurses,
I am so happy to have found this site for nurses to collaborate, support and vent! I have been brewing over information that my facility has given out $ 55,000.00 bonuses to our physicians last month. Yes that was each md. The disparity as to what we received as professionals was sickening, lets say depending on the hours we worked in the last year was $300.00. The thing that upset me most is those of us who are aware of this feel so unappreciated. We all know that you don't go into nursing for the money, however with the push for further education, continuing education, increased patient load, and supporting their Magnet status...it would be nice to know that we are valued just a tad bit more than no offence housekeeping. That we work short staffed, receive no bonuses for helping out the unit, do not receive much reimbursement for going back to school. A friend of mine who is a banker asked how much is this facility charging people that, they have this much profit to share? In this day in age when my parents who have worked all of their lives and can't afford insurance, not even Obama care! How we could have helped the little people who come into our facility and have thousands of dollars owed to our facility, how we could have supported our nurses just a little bit more in their lives. This has really made us question being a nurse, our roles as a nurse. I personally used to love being a nurse and was proud of it, I am looking to get that feeling back again. I hear it in the Thank You's I hear from my patients, that is what I am holding onto right now. Thank you fellow nurses for listening. Any input is valued!
