BMCC NURSING PROGRAM

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone. Can anyone applying to BMCC or currently in the program tell me how admissions work? I've tried contacting them but I don't really get a clear answer.

So let's say I transfer to BMCC for Fall 2020. I only have to take A&P I and Math 104. Is it true that I would have to wait for Spring 2021 so my prereqs are considered "completed", and then apply/take HESI for Fall 2021 admission? I could not apply for Spring? I think that's a bit ridiculous...

Also does anyone know how the transfer credit removal process works?

Well first off you have to take Math 104, A&P 1, Chem 121, Eng 101 & Psych 100. Without these completed you cannot apply for the nursing program at BMCC. And yes, it is true that you cannot apply to the nursing program the same semester your completing your prerequisites. You have to apply the following semester so if you’re finishing prereqs in the Spring ‘20 you have to apply in the fall ‘20 to get admitted for the Spring ‘21.

You should also consider A&P 2 (which is recommended because it will help with HESI).

Transfer credit removal would be overridden by a Dean So just y’all to your advisor, mention that and they’ll tell you the room. But with everything going on with Covid 19 it may be much harder.

Good luck!

I have already completed Psych, English, and Chemistry at my previous school thats why I didn't mention them. But thank you for the clarification. I wonder why they make it that why.

I’m assuming because of the HESI exam being within the same semester as your A&P 1. Say if you were taking A&P 1, you probably wouldn’t have an idea of HESI nor the time to study because it takes months to study.

Directly from the head of the nursing department, she does it because she doesn’t think the department should have to ‘rush to process grades in order to handle applications between the end is the semester and early June’.
she said that to me face. Sooo, basically she doesn’t care how much time you waste or that you essentially must take a semester off.
little piece of advice. I transferred to Lehman and am awaiting hopeful acceptance and if I make it I’m have my BACHELORS in one more semester than the BMCC ASSOCIATES would’ve taken.
food for thought.

CUNY schools in general make things complicated and annoying. But I guess that's the price you pay for affordability. I'm currently at Lehman and I have to look at other schools because I'm retaking OChem for a better grade. Lehman doesn't consider retakes unfortunately, which sucks bc I have As in the rest of my classes. Was looking into BMCC but that semester off is really turning me off. I'm taking the rest of my prereqs at Lehman to save money. Hoping to come out of Microbiology with a B this semester cause the professor makes the class insanely hard.

I have a question. I am currently studying at LaGuardia CC. I have finished A&P I, ENG101,SSY101( PSYCHOLOGY), and SCC110( Chemistry). If I want to transfer to BMCC, then BMCC will accept my these four classes or not. I know I have to take MAT104 and A&P II, but I just want to make sure BMCC will accept my credits for four classes or not?

Can anyone help, taking the HESI A2 in 8 days and wanted to know any tips/tricks? What did you study to pass? Please help :-) Thanks!
