Hello,
I've been an OB (L&D) nurse for the last thirteen years. I'm finally pregnant at the age of 35 and my husband got orders to move us with the Army to MD. We'll be living in the Upper Marlboro, Croom area. We can't deliver at Andrews AFB because they're not taking any more new patients right now. I'll be 26 weeks when we transfer. I'm healthy other than being AMA (a little hypothyroid and one gene for Factor V...just on ASA). As far as a provider, I like midwives because my experience with them has been that they typically do better deliveries (less unnecessary interventions, have skilled hands, are patient and listen to patients). Otherwise, I'm not really opposed to OBGyn's, I just know choosing the right one can make a big difference in your experience, just like any provider, nurse or MD. I would like an epidural, so I know I can't deliver in most birthing centers and other than that, I want a safe, healthy environment to deliver my first baby!
Input would be greatly appreciated because I'm going into this place without knowing anyone!
Regards,
AB
