I am so nervous about the upcoming application process! I know that I want to go into nursing, but I was sick with mono my first two years of college and didn't do well in a few important classes. Here's what I'm working with (all of these classes taken at MSU, btw)-
-2.0 in general chem, bio, micro bio (although, 3.0 in micro lab)
-2.5 in anatomy
-3.0 in patho, nutrition
-3.5 in organic chem
-4.0 in physiology, all psych classes, healthcare ethics, english, and almost all of my other classes
I have a 3.65 overall GPA, and graduate in December with a B.S in Health Studies, and minors in both Bioethics and Health Promotion. I also have a one year skills certificate from Schoolcraft from taking the Nurse Assistant class and a few electives there. I test for CNA certification in a couple weeks. For "extras" I've taken doula workshops (I want to be a nurse midwife eventually), done non-healthcare volunteer work, and been involved in a Hispanic nurses group.
I got denied twice for MSU's traditional program. Now, I'm going to be applying to second degree programs at MSU, U of M, and U of D Mercy. I guess I'm just curious if anyone with a similar situation/grades got accepted at any of these schools. From filling out apps, I feel most nervous about MSU (because the prereqs include all of my 2.0 classes) and the best about U of M and U of D Mercy, because they only look at one of my 2.0 classes (micro).
Any advice for the admissions process? Or suggestions of other schools I have a shot at? My only preference is that it is a BSN program. I haven't turned in any of the apps in yet, I plan to do that at the end of October after I (hopefully!) get certified as a CNA. I know that I have a good chance of having to retake a few classes, but I am realllly hoping I can get into a school this year!
