Best path to be a NP

Specialties NP

Im currently studying my pre-Nursing. So Im still at the beginning. BUT Im 32 and I have 2 kids and I want to be able to provide for them. I know I want to be a NP and I planned to go into my ASN to BSN to MSN. Is this the best path to become a NP? and Is it the shortest route? I was also wondering what is really theaverage salary for a NP I was doing research and you hear so much and have all these numbers I have read they make like 48,000 a year. But a friend told me no it's more like $70-80,000.00 which makes sense beacuse you have a Masters. I just want to make educated choices beacuse it's about taking care of my family well and having a career I enjoy. Im not trying to get rich but where I live it isnt cheap te average income is around $80,000.00 and that is perfectly comfortable for me. Please someone educate me on what to expect on the path to getting my NP degree and what salary can I expect. I live in Webster Groves Missouri, a subburb in St.Louis, Missouri. Thank You!

Yeah, I can understand that you want to earn a decent living to be able to care for your family. 70K-80K sounds about right, at least that's what I have been told too. As far as the "shortest" route to take, I think if you can go directly into a BSN program and then go for your MSN, then do it. There are some ADN-MSN programs out there, but they're are only a few depending on what state u live in I suppose.
