Best Nursing Programs to Apply to in GA?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey again,

I am currently a pre-nursing student and plan on transferring to a nursing program Fall 2019 cohort seeing as my current university does not offer the BSN degree. I had a few schools in mind including Augusta University, Mercer University, Gordon State College, Georgia College and State University, and finally Georgia State University. Are there any other recommendations for BSN programs here in Georgia with the exception of Emory University. P.S. I am aware that Emory is probably the best nursing school Georgia has to offer but I simply cannot afford it even if I took out loans.

I would also appreciate y'all including your experiences and how you got admitted (GPA, TEAS score, SAT/ACT, volunteering, etc.) to the programs you recommend if you have attended. Thank you!

Here is a list of all nursing programs in Georgia. The NCLEX is the nursing board exam. Look at the rightmost column. If a school has a high NCLEX pass rate, that means it is a good school.

As far as schools I didn't see on your list, College of Coastal Ga and Kennesaw State have great NCLEX pass rates.

Make sure that whichever school you attend is accredited, whether it's ACEN or CCNE. I think Gordon and Georgia Gwinnett are in the process of trying to get their accreditation but I don't think they have it yet (it has been a while since I checked). I would go to a school that's currently fully accredited.

When you see a program you are interested in, check the website for the School of Nursing. The website will tell you what the requirements for application are.

Good luck to you!
