Ben Taub vs Hermann ER/ED Medical Center

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am aware of some of the basic differences but I am hoping to hear from a nurse who has worked in both ERs or knows of someone who has...this is what I know:

1. Both are a level 1 that services the almost 7 million people in the Houston metro area being the only levels 1s in the area except for UTMB.

2. Ben Taub is a county hospital and gets a lot of stabbings, gunshots and homeless people.

3. Ben Taub does not get choppers and Hermann does therefore Hermann has more MVAs/MVCs.

4. Hermann has more insured patients.

My question:

1. What made you like one vs. the other?

2. What other distinct differences are there between the two e.g. staff personality....

3. For someone trying to gain more trauma experience having worked in trauma II facilities, which would you choose and why?

Thank you
