Before you apply to the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia

Published

I'm a current student that will graduate this summer. Although I can't compare this school with any other, there are a number of ways the faculty here have contributed to a pretty rough learning experience. Here are some things to expect!

Our Respiratory class was taught 100% on youtube. That's right. We came to class, the instructor turned on a youtube video for us to watch, and that was that. Of course, the youtube video featured a CRNA from a different school lecturing. It wasn't like we could stop and ask him questions though. Apparently the faculty thought this was completely ok. They also thought it was ok that we didn't have any way to contact him...even through email! The faculty made the tests, even though they didn't teach the class. About half the class failed at the end of the course. Reasonably, the faculty blamed us for not trying hard enough.

Then there are the notoriously abusive CRNAs who the faculty at the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia continue to require students to work with. Even after multiple written reports by students about these clinical preceptors. You'll enjoy that part I'm sure.

Let's not leave out the emergency class meetings, where the faculty publicly embarrasses students when they try to say anything negative about the school on social media. Maybe the best way to prevent this is to treat students a little better and give us the learning experience that we deserve.

Anyways, hope that sheds a little light on the school you may be considering. I'm sure there will be an emergency class meeting about this post in the near future. Oh well, maybe all Nurse Anesthetist programs are like this?
