Banner Employee priority placement in program.

U.S.A. Arizona

I had some questions about the priority placement into the nursing program. I just started a job with banner hospital. I was told by the boswell nursing advisor that if gained employment with Banner that I could get into the program quicker. Is this true? Does anybody have any insight on this. There was a page with all the hospital and college alliances but the link will not take you to the page anymore. I think you have to work with banner for 6 months to be eligible. Please anyone with info????

Each school in the Maricopa Nursing program has a limited number of spots (anywhere between 2-15) "reserved" for employees of the Hospitals that school is partnered with. These spots are often filled with employees with the most seniority first... the longer you've worked for the hospital the better your chances of getting a spot.

I honestly do not think that working for the hospital gives you preference. The only way this happens is if you get in through the Banner Nurse Fellows program (which is a class of 30 students who are all getting their schooling paid through Banner) or through the SCottsdale one. I know that the Chandler hospital system does have some spots at CGCC, but then again, I don't hear good things about the instructors at CGCC, which is why I didn't apply there :).

The post above is correct, but the preference also applies to the spots reserved for hospital employees in the "regular program" as well, however, seniority plays part as in deciding what employees get those spots.. also you MUST have all your pre-reqs done in order to apply regardless if you work for a hospital or not, just a heads up!

PS

As of now Banner is discontinuing their cohort (Nurse Fellows) program, they are no longer taking applications for the program.

Arbor-It's crazy and seems to be a bit 'secretive' to me how they do the whole wiating list thing! I think it stinks that you can't find out where you are on the list...

As for the last class for the Nurse Fellows, yes, I read that. Pretty crazy!

Yeah it's weird I didn't even know about the "special placement" spots until I talked to a friend who works for St. Lukes... and at that time you could view the page that showed how many openings there were for employees-but even then you had to go about getting to it from some weird link... it seems like everything is kind of "secretive" in the nursing program until you actually get in!

I don't know about Banner, but I work for Scottsdale Healthcare and got into the SCC/SHC partnership very quickly. My time stamp was February 20, 2009. I waited less than a year. With that program, they dedicate 25 of their 50 spots to employees. But like I said, I'm not sure about Banner...

Thankyou all for the input, well I know for sure that banner hospitals have employment placement like scottsdale. The advisor for banner boswell initially told me that if I worked for banner that they had employee placement. Yes the banner fellowship program is being phased out, but that is seperate from the banner employee placement. The fellowship pays for schooling and the banner employee partnerships just opens spots for you. I just wanted to know the different stipulations with the partnerships. I know you have to be an employee for 6 months or more. there used to be a link on the maricopa nursing website; program options, but the link doesn't work anymore. ?Anyone know of a link availiable?
