Um how about increasing productivity with better staffing. Less unnecessary paperwork. Rotating staff through surgery, anaesthesia and recovery etc
Thank you for your suggestion. I like the idea of increasing productivity with better staffing. But I'm not sure if I can be able to influence this change in my area of work. Staffing issues is one of our main problem at the moment. We don't even have enough staff to cover the shift. We're depending on agency staffs. Do you think this is within the scope of my job responsibility? I'm applying for band 6 not band 7.
As a band 6 this responsibility is totally not up to you, it's a more senior thing. Maybe try to make theatres more appealing. When I did my surgical placement I was bored out of my mind, it was really off putting. I'm not sure exactly what could be done to make it more of a stand out specialty, even at my trust it's difficult to hold on to permanent staff

Its not ALL of your responsibility but you would be able to perhaps assert some influence over a decision. Think about your influential power. Staffing is a minefield with no easy fix so how could you tackle it. Could you encourage more nurses to join the bank and promote a better morale.
What factors are decreasing productivity and how can you all work together to do things better and quicker. Would more manpower be the answer or is it processes that need to be changed. Attitude?
