Baja California?

Not sure about Baja, but Yuma Regional Medical Center has "Seasonal" positions which is for nearly every department in the hospital. Yuma is about 10 miles away from Baja, and I will be going there in November. My husband and I spend a lot of time in the Dunes, and it seemed like a good fit for me. I will be working day shift, ER, every other weekend, with great housing within 1 1/2 miles from, and provided by, the hospital. I can't wait!! We play a lot down in Baja...wonderful place. Just wish I could speak Spanish!!:wink2:

Thanks for the info. I have a few more questions. I just looked at a map -- so Yuma AZ is closer to the inland Baja water and not the Pacific? Do you know if the whales go there? Do you work through a travel agency (if so, which one?), or directly through the hospital (if so, who do you suggest I contact? PM me if you prefer)? Which seasons do they need nurses more? I'm interested in the winter, early springtime. Thanks again!!!!

Yuma is closer to the Sea of Cortez, however, we have traveled by sandrail across Baja to the Pacific side (not recommended if you are by yourself, although we tend to live "on the edge"). I haven't really seen whales unless we've traveled to San Diego, but have seen schools of dolphins playing.

I just contacted HR directly, because I was familiar with the area and we vacation there during the fall/winter months. Dunin' season starts in October and runs thru Spring. This brings a huge degree of trauma to the hospital. Usually we would plan our last trip out there for Mid April. By then it is getting to hot to play in the desert. They get a high influx of patients during the fall/winter due to the dunes and snowbirds.

Currently I am working as a traveler in my homestate, will take a break to work in Yuma as an independant, then will resume staffing our local hospital for OUR busy season, which is Spring/Summer. It seems like we will have the best of both worlds, but then again, I'm not out there actually working yet.

Hello,

this is my third year working Yuma seasonal. I do ICU and LOVE it, i did do a little time in the ER, did NOT love it. The area is great though. Nice weather and people in community are nice. Bad ER experience though!!!
