Back to school

How does the mature older LVN prepare to enter a RN program, while forced by financial circumstances to hold a full time job?

This is me. Older LPN that finally decided to go back to school, 18 days away from graduating!

Tips:

- Ensure you have a good support system before hand. This has saved me in both stress and financials. My entire family pitched in, including my kids to help out with the house, babysit, quiz me constantly, etc.

- Save up as much as you can before you start, so that you can pay your tuition out of pocket and not have the added financial stress. Public colleges are best because they're the cheapest. I managed to get through my bridge with no extra debt, which I'm so grateful for.

- Night shift jobs allow you to still work full time, but you have a decent amount of downtime in most night shift positions for you to study/do homework.

- Home health and PDN jobs are also a good way to keep full time money coming in, while being flexible for school.

- Keep the faith. It's hard, but push through. You can do this!!
