For those of you who are AWHONN members, what are it's benefits? I have heard a lot of people say that it is a good idea to join, but I'm not sure what you "get" out of it. Thanks.

I "get" that I belong to a group dedicated to excellent education and patient care and stand with thousands of who practice their profession in OB land, endless resources, networking ability and a couple of great magazines. And you reminded me that it is time to renew my membership!!!
I'm just wondering what those endless resources are and what form they take. Are you able to read publications on the website as a member, but not as a non-member? Do they mail out educational materials to members? I just have heard so many say how good it is to join (and I assume that they are right and I intend to), but I wanted to know it works. Thanks.

You get two journal subscriptions - JOGNN and Nursing for Women's Health, both of which are issued semi-monthly. You can attend state/chapter meetings and conferences, as well as national conferences. You get discounts on CE offerings as well.
It's a good investment. I mean, it hasn't been lifechanging for me, but it's a good resource. I've used my journals as sources for work research. And, it does look good on a resume'.
OMG...I am always on the site looking for resources for policy and procedures, updates on current practices and networking with other members. Why re-invent the wheel when there are so many out there who are climbing the same mountains. I buy tons of guidelines to have on my shelf, and the educational materials are excellent. It does look great on a resume and to a lawyer if you are ever deposed. I guess it all depends on what you want to get out of it.
Oops. I meant "how it works" not that I wanted to know it works. Thanks for the replies.
