Avoid Swedish Med Center in Seattle

I am a traveling cardiac nurse and have had the most chaotic first week of supposed "orientation". THis whole first week at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle they have been shuffling myself and the other travelers all over the place and accomplishing nothing. They sent all three of us separate first day instructions to orientation days where the instructors never showed up. This is the most disorganized place I have ever been and they treat their travelers like second class citizens. I had no idea and had heard only good things about this place starting out. If anyone is thinking about coming here think twice.

Specializes in CVICU, telemetry.

What precisely has been so frustrating about your experiences with Swedish orientation? Are you orienting to the First Hill or Cherry Hill campuses? Any info on Cherry Hill 4E would be much obliged in terms of work load, patient nurse ratio on evenings, etc. It's a CV surgery stepdown floor.

Specializes in L&D/MB/LDRP.

I had a great time @ Swedish. I had a week long orientation that was well organized and very informative. I felt like they did actually care. The nurses on the floor, on the other hand, weren't so friendly. Most of them were real princesses but I did my own thing and loved the doctors.

I totally don't agree with this post! THis hospital has been wonderful and I would like to know what hospital is perfect, anyway? Don't take one person's word for it, folks. Swedish is a fantastic hospital and it's a bummer that this person had a bad experience and decided to write off the whole organization.
