Atlanticare/Shorememorial hospitals

Anyone heard about layoffs for these hospitals? How does the union work at Shore, does seniority have anything to do with who gets laid off, is it by department? I don't have alot of seniority but I work on a really busy floor, I can't see anyone getting let go, lately I've had 7 patients on day shift.

Is AtlantiCare in a hiring freeze for new graduates this year?

I haven't heard for sure, but I know that the current RN's are getting very little overtime so that says something. With the economy, we aren't as busy and we are getting more and more patients without insurance, so we are eating the cost.

I think it is going to be much harder to for new grads this year and next year. I would apply everywhere to be safe. It cost's each hospital about around 20,000 to train each new grad and they are trying to cut down on costs.
