hi, im an out of state applicant looking to move to atlanta by may 2024. I also graduate may 2024.

I have a few hospitals on my radar, top 2 northside and piedmont. I just want to reach out to ask other previous out of state candidates how did the application process go for you and how easy was it for you to get into your dream specialty (ps mines is l&d, mother baby, pacu, ICU, nicu)

in state and current nurses are free to reply and please let me know! I need as much help as I can get im very nervous and I want to be able to apply and find a job smoothly!

my questions are:

1. when does Summer residency start?

2. how much is the base pay? night shift diff? weekend shift diff?

3. how did the application process go for you as an out of state candidate? in state candidate? did you fly in or were you offered a virtual interview?

4. did you find it easy to get into your dream specialty?

5. how do you like your job now if you are still there?

6. what are some ways I can stand out as an applicant? im currently an ADN student, as you know barely get the same opportunities a BSN student gets (I am so mad I don't have senior clinicals on a unit im interested in!!). a clinical instructor of mines said im free to come job shadow her a few days out the month as she works in l&d and I need to help myself to learning as much as I can due to lack of exposure.

thanks so much for your help.

Hi I am too due to graduate May 2024 with my ADN. I've applied to Piedmont, northside, Emory, wellstar, and Grady. I haven't heard back from Grady ,Emory or northside . I am praying I'll get a position in the ICU.the application process seems easy.

Hey! I applied to Northside, Piedmont, Emory, and Grady.

I haven't heard from Piedmont. Emory sent me an email for their residency open house at the end of the month but I won't be able to attend plus their Summer residency starts too soon for me. Grady told me basically if you don't have preceptorship in a specialty you're only eligible for medsurg... I had an interview with Northside, just awaiting the results. I think it may be best to get in contact with a recruiter.

Do you have contact information for a recruiter for northside? I applied a month ago no has gotten into contact with me. And that's fine about Grady because that was my last option LOL. I have a interview for a Piedmont location next week.

Are you out of state? I wanna get with Piedmont as well. And what are you interested in? I only got women's services recruiter.

I'm in Georgia just not in the Atlanta area. I live about 1.5 hours away from Atlanta. I'm only interested in ICU. Piedmont recruiter normally calls within a day or two once you do the new grad application.
