Atlanta Medical Center New grad RN ICU

Published

Hi everyone! I was recently accepted into the new grad ICU program at Atlanta Medical Center as of June 2010. However, the new grad program is on hold currently and I was wondering if anyone else that got accepted heard back concerning the program's status recently? Also, I'm from the bay area in California and am curious to hear what others have heard or know of Atlanta Medical Center in general. A good workplace for nurses?

Hey - Welcome to the south if your new.. I was born and raised in ATL, and went to Mercer Univer. for nursing school. I don't live in atlanta anymore I work at J. Hopkins, but I rotated at AMC for a bit in they're ED and a bunch of my friends work in they're ED now. AMC is a good hospital its runner up to Grady though as far as acuity/trauma which is the big trauma hospital in the city. They usually send major trauma pts to grady and if for some reason there are no beds or AMC is closer they send them to AMC. You'll get a lot of experience @ AMC in they're ICU, its an inner city hospital with all the perks of inner city patients ; ) Atlanta is great though you'll love it! I know my preceptor headed up the ICU new grad dept program there when I was in school but IDK if she's there anymore. Good luck! let me know if you have anymore Q's about ATL!

thanks a lot!!

Hi coolnursegirl, Congrats!!! Please I have a question. I have been job hunting in all over Cali and am yet to find something, so I have increased the search to GA. I wanted to know if you endorsed your License prior to applying in GA.

Thank you

I graduated from Mercer University as well in May. I actually applied for a job in the ICU at AMC but didn't even get an interview. So congrats! You must have had a great resume. I know a few people from Mercer that got hired in June for the new grad program in the ICU, is it still on hold? And what part of the Bay Area are you from? I'm from Scotts Valley. How are you liking the South?

no i did not get my license endorsed, but i would have gone through the whole process if the program did not get placed on hold

Hey there! I'm resurrecting this old thread! Has anyone gone through the residency at AMC for ICU? I would love to hear what it's like from a peer perspective!
