Atlanta DeKalb Women's Center L&D Residency???

Specializes in critical care, telemetry, ER.

Hey Ladies!! I'm just wondering if any of you are familiar with DeKalb Medical Center's new women's center here in Atlanta?? I was just on their site and saw that they have a nurse residency program for new grads or nurses looking to change specialties. I have TCU and ED experience, but have always been passionate about L&D and I'm so excited about this program. I'm working on my application for it right now.

I'm just curious if anyone knows anything about it. Like how long the residency lasts and such. I know it's an 18 month contract, but it says regular employment starts after passing boards. Obviously I already have my license, so I'm not sure how that works with me. I'm sure I'll get tons of info on it if I'm accepted. I'm just so excited about it that I was wanting to gather some info ahead of time.:yeah:

I don't know about their residency program but I do know that they just closed their L&D unit at Hillendale, releasing 40 of 50 employees on that floor. But, I do work with RNs who used to work there and they liked it. They only left because of the distance. I hope you get in.

How are you liking Labor & Delivery at Dekalb?! I really want to work there once I graduate. Do they have nurse residents in L&D?
