ATI-Critical Thinking Test-Help!!

Published

I have to take ATI's Critical Thinking Exam next week as an admissions requirement. I have no idea what this test is like or what to expect. Since this is one of the determinants of my admissions I am very nervous. Has anyone taken this test? What are the questions like? Is there anything I can study or should know before taking this test? I would be so appreciative of any help or insight about this. Thanks!!!

I took that one and did very well. I don't know how you could prepare for it though.

The critical thinking one...I just can't imagine using that as part of an admission decision. We had ours so we could see our faults and such.

It's part of Loma Linda's admissions process. It's incrediably nerve-racking taking an exam without even really knowing what it's on or what it's about, especially since it's part of your admissions. I just wish ATI made some sort of guide book for the exam so I would know at least what the questions are like. I'd like to think that I'm a good critical thinker but I don't know I've never been tested on it before. I guess I'm going to find out. Thanks for the response...

We took this test our first week of school and were told that there was nothing we could do to prepare for it because it is designed to test how we think rather than specific knowledge that can be learned.

It is possible to improve critical thinking, but a week's time just isn't enough to make an appreciable difference.

Remember that it's a multiple choice test. Read the question very carefully and consider what each one is asking. Underline key words. Draw pictures or charts or whatever you need to in the margins if it will help you visualize the concept. Eliminate the answers that are obviously wrong first.

I know this is worrisome for you since your admission into nursing school depends on how well you do. I hope you do well.
