I am an aspiring Family Nurse Practitioner and currently looking into entry level MSN. I received my health science degree with a cumulative 3.15 GPA and science gpa (anatomy, physio, micro, and chem) 3.44. I have a whole lot of volunteer experience in a variety of areas, but the ones that correlates to nursing would be volunteering at a hospital. Since I graduated with my degree in health science with an emphasis in community health, my most recent work/volunteer experience involves in public health. I have study aboard two times. Lastly, I shadowed 4 physician assistant because I had initially wanted to become a PA.
I've recently applied to Western University Entry Level MSN 2015, however I am pessimistic and feel I am not a competitive enough.
The question is, should I retake some courses to bring up my GPA? Should I do more volunteering? I am currently jobless and rigorously looking for a job, but with this economy it is extremely hard to even get an interview. What should I do to make myself stand out with those who have high GPA. I know I should mention why my gpa is so bad but I'm more concern on why I want to be a nurse. When I applied for WesternU, my letter of purpose were more in tuned with why I want to go into the nursing profession, specifically FNP.
Please let me know what you think I can do to better my application the next time I apply.
