I'm currently an LPN at a nursing home LTC, wondering if I should go for my BSN. Currently, I can't imagine working at LTC for years. No nurse here is genuinely happy. I'm just wondering if getting my BSN and working at a hospital would be a better experience than working at a nursing home. Currently I am working 1 nurse to 40 patients in LTC. Things are chaotic, and we are expected to do the impossible. I keep hearing about RNs complaining about hospital under staffing, is it nearly as bad as under staffing in nursing home? If its just as bad or even worse, I probably wouldn't go for my BSN, I would just go for another career.
I prefer to hear from RNs who have worked in LTC and hospitals.
